Families of war prisoners protest in Tel Aviv, demanding their release

Families of war prisoners protested in Tel Aviv, demanding their release 600 days after the war began. Critics accuse Prime Minister Netanyahu of prolonging the conflict for political reasons.

AhlulBayt News Agency: Families of prisoners of war staged a protest on Tel Aviv’s Ayalon Street, demanding the release of their loved ones. The demonstration took place 600 days after the war began.

The families are calling for the return of prisoners captured on October 7 and held in Gaza. According to them, the biggest obstacle to their release is Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Since the October 7 war, efforts to free the hostages have been ongoing.

Netanyahu has refused to agree to a ceasefire that would secure the release of all prisoners. Critics argue that he is prolonging the war to maintain his political position.

Former Defense Minister Benny Gantz sharply criticized the handling of the war, stating that what has been achieved in 600 days could have been accomplished in less than six months. He suggested that the war’s continuation serves specific political interests.

Gantz also emphasized that Netanyahu must prioritize the release of hostages, even if it delays military operations.

Meanwhile, another demonstration took place in front of the Israeli president’s residence, demanding the return of prisoners. Protests spread across various streets in Tel Aviv and other central Israeli cities, reflecting growing public dissatisfaction.

The widespread demonstrations indicate increasing pressure on the Israeli government to address the issue of prisoners of war.
